The Internal Family Systems model brings about change in troubled behaviors by first healing the emotions that are beneath the behaviors. See more about that in the post “Coaching Emotions”.
After emotions are healed, the behaviors and beliefs that were developed as protective responses to the outside world need to transform into more mature, flexible parts of the personality. They may still be protective, but not in a rigid or immature way.
Coaching uses thought provoking questions, observations and challenges to stimulate awareness in your clients so that they can understand and mature their values, motivations and beliefs.
